I've noticed the same thing on pretty much all car searches on google. There's always a competitor in the sponsored results.

I think that's what Google's tried to do here, they've allowed companies to decide when and where ads show up such that a brand's competitors show up in ads during a search. More money for Google and more money for the ad space purchasers. Win-win!
